The Nocona High School volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to knock off Paradise in a District 3A-9 match at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Indians won 17-25-25-27, 25-21, 25-17, 15-9 over Paradise.
Also on Saturday, Henrietta shocked Boyd in three sets, meaning Nocona, Henrietta, Boyd and Paradise were all leading the district heading into Tuesday’s matches with 4-1 marks.
Nocona is 15-14 on the season.
Jamie Carpenter and Chloey Hamilton ran Nocona’s 6-2 offense to the tune of 32 assists, and the pair also combined for 16 digs.
Paradise scored the final four points of the first set, capped off by a Jett Preather service ace.
Nocona and Paradise were locked in a tight battle during the second set, and the score was knotted at 25-all on a Panther service error. However, Paradise recovered as Amber French scored points with a couple of well-placed tips. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
