BOWIE – Troy Ardean Gaskins, 73, passed away Jan. 15, 2015 at his home in Bowie after a six year battle against cancer.Troy Gaskins OBIT
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 16 at The White Family Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 17 in the drawing room of The White Family Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Troy was born April 22, 1941 near Forestburg in the Dewey Community to Lonnie and Nola (Chesser) Gaskins. The family moved to Bowie in 1949. Troy graduated from Bowie High School in 1959.
His life took him in many directions. Troy was a roughneck and driller for many years in the oilfield. He worked in aircraft mechanics and retired from the Denton State School. Troy was a licensed Texas Certified Medication Aide from 1998 and continued until his retirement. He maintained a HAM Radio license as general operator for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Nola Gaskins; and his son, Tommie Jeffers.
Troy is survived by his companion, Frankie Spikes Campbell, Bowie; brother, Jimmie Gaskins and wife Shirley, Bowie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and acquaintances.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bryant Whitaker FFA Alumni Scholarship c/o Carla Hughes at P.O. Box 1302 Bowie, TX 76230.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

  1. When we were growing up, Troy always had the biggest and best collection of funny books to trade. Kept to himself and never said an ugly word about anybody.
