March 10, 1928 – February 1, 2015OBIT Billie Deweber
BUFFALO SPRINGS – Billie Jean Deweber, 86, passed away Feb. 1, 2015 in Bowie, TX.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 3 at The White Family Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 4 at Southside Baptist Church in Bowie. Burial will follow at Newport Cemetery.
Billie was born March 10, 1928 in Bellevue to Elmer and Sarah Mills. She attended school in Bellevue, graduating in 1945 as valedictorian.
Shortly after graduating she moved to Denver, CO and worked in a munition plant at the end of WWII. Then she left Denver and moved to Fort Worth and worked for Montgomery Ward.
She met her husband Luther Deweber in Bowie where they were married on August 26, 1950. The rest of her life she worked beside and with her husband in the farming and ranching business. The first 13 years of their marriage they lived outside Newport on the Jack, Clay county line, before moving to Buffalo Springs, where she lived for the next 52 years until her death.
The most important thing she did was at the age of eight years old she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the First Baptist Church of Bellevue. Billie enjoyed the beauty in all God has given us. She often would be found sitting in her chair watching the birds, flowers and trees out her window. She would fix her hummingbird feeders and hang them right in front of the window so she could watch them closely.
Her family and friends, knowing she loved watching the hummingbirds would gift her with glass ones forming a collection for her to enjoy in her home as well as the one outside. Billie would relax by listening to her wind chimes blowing in the wind and listening to her classical music, or elevator music, as her sons would call it just to tease her. She loved Christmas with all the lights, colors, and trees. She started a collection of miniature Christmas trees when she found one in a catalog that she loved.
Her family seeing the happiness on her face when showing her treasure off added to her collection every chance they got just to see her smile. She loved company and especially when it was family. Enjoying the visits from her grand kids and great- grand kids.
She will be remembered and missed by those who knew and loved her for her loving kindness, giving spirit and great love of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Deweber on June 15, 1993; her parents, Elmer and Sarah Mills; six brothers, Blant, Jack, L.R., Fred, Hoot and Don Mills; and three sisters, Irene Orton, Monette Reynolds and Lamont (Lady) Sweet.
