AZLE – Hardin E. Miller, 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 5, 2015.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.
Hardin was born on Dec. 14, 1921 on the family farm in Leeton, MO to Russell and Katherine Butcher Miller.
Hardin enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in the European Theatre in WWII as a B-24 bomber pilot, flying 30 missions. He earned the rank of captain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for returning his crew safely with two engines on the same side disabled by shrapnel. He continued his career as a corporate pilot until retirement at age 70.
He will also be remembered as the fun uncle, for his sense of humor, and the ability to start any combustion engine regardless of condition.
He is preceded in death by his three siblings, and his wife of 50 years, Flossie Norriss Miller.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth Minor, Liberty, MO; brother-in-law Thomas W. Norriss Jr., Bowie; two daughters, Jayne and Donna Miller; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
