Bowie School Board will have only one contested race on May 9.

Board President and Place One Incumbent Holley Dean has withdrawn from the election, leaving Jacky Betts to run unopposed.

Guy Green and Debbie Leonard will battle it out for the vacant place two.

TRUSTEES TO MEET

Bowie School Trustees will have their monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. March 9.

The meeting has been delayed due to ice and playoff games, but will take place on Monday with administrator contracts one of the primary topics.

Trustees will convene into executive session to discuss the renewal of those contracts.

The remainder of Monday’s agenda will focus on project updates. Superintendent Steven Monkres will present a report on bond expenditures and the discussion of future projects.

Bowie School District was able to save money on several of its bond-funded projects, and Monkres would like direction on what other projects the board would like to take on with the remaining funds.

The school safety audit report prepared by the Region 9 Education Service Center will be presented, along with information on board training and changing the March board meeting due to spring break.

The remainder of Monday’s agenda lists campus and administrator reports, the consent agenda and approval of the student transfer list.
