Conditions were cold at this weekend’s Texas High School Bass Association Tournament at Lake Lewisville.
That made fishing difficult, and as a result, all of Bowie High School’s teams didn’t weigh any fish from the event.
Teams consisting of Jake Rhyne and Kollin Gillaspia, Spenser Meekins and Jared Stone, Lane Hopson and Hadley Morgan and solo fisher Mitch Sanders gave fishing a try on Saturday to no avail.
“The boys froze, but they never stopped fishing,” Bowie team coordinator Trent Gillaspia said on his Facebook page. “Unfortunately, no one from Bowie weighed any fish, and there were very few fish caught by anyone.”
Overall, only 12 of 91 two-man teams weighed any fish. The big bass weight was 7.5 pounds.
Flower Mound won the team title, weighing 15.61 pounds of fish, and Aledo was second at 10.21 pounds.
Aaron Anderson and Devin Bushland from Allen won the meet, catching three fish totaling 8.52 pounds. Solo fisher Brandon Dominguez of Aledo was second, catching two fish at 7.8 pounds. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
