The Bowie High School softball team finished with a split weekend in District 3A-9 play, defeating Henrietta 11-8 on Friday and then falling to Boyd 10-4 on Saturday.
And Bowie certainly had its chances against Boyd as the Lady Rabbits rolled to a 3-0 advantage by the middle of the second inning.
“We had them behind the eight-ball,” Bowie head softball coach Brant Farris said. “We just didn’t do a good enough job of advancing runners when they got on.”
Bowie stands at 11-11 overall, and 4-2 in 3A-9. The Lady Rabbits sat in fourth place heading into Tuesday’s game with Holliday, a team that beat Paradise on Friday evening.
Boyd, ranked in the latest Conference 3A Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, committed an unusually high five errors as Bowie put the ball in play early.
But then the Lady Jacket offense ramped up and knotted the score at 3-all in the bottom of the second. Boyd forged ahead with two runs in its half of the third. Read more, and see box scores, in the mid-week Bowie News.
