The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is helping the National Park Service prepare for its 100th birthday by joining the “Find Your Park” campaign.
“Find Your Park” urges Americans, including Texans, to get outside and explore nature, and share the experiences on social media.
“A park is more than just a place – it can be a feeling, a state of mind, or a sense of national pride,” Chris Holmes, director of outreach and interpretation, said.
Texas has 15 national park areas, 95 state parks, and hundreds of county, city and private parks. The largest park in Texas is Big Bend Ranch State Park at more than 300,000 acres.
Parks provide unique experiences, according to the TPWD.
“Find Your Park” encourages people to find their own connections at your favorite park.
Prizes will be offered in a national contest, including travel to the ultimate Centennial celebration, two yearly national park passes, an adventure kit and more. Visit the website, TexasStateParks.org/FindYourPark for more information.
