Bowie School Trustees approved a deficit budget Monday, but they believe a surplus from this year and an additional payment in state revenue will lessen the burden on the district’s fund balance.
The board met at 7 a.m. Monday for public hearings on both the budget and tax rate, followed by a second meeting to take action on those items.
Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Pastusek presented the final proposal with general fund expenses budgeted at $14,089,106. The food service was budgeted at $599,100; debt service at $1,766,753; and capital projects $833,057. Read the full story on the budget details in your mid-week News.
