Runoff anticipated in precinct one commissioner’s race

Based on last night’s unofficial election results it appears a runoff may be required in the commissioner precinct one race between Roy Darden who received 36.43% of the vote and Stephen Kirkland who got 27.88%. A winning candidate must receive at least 51% of the vote.
Elections Administrator Brandi Shipman said she will have further details after reviewing the election code and contacting the Secretary of State’s office. There also are expected to be runoffs at the state level. See more on the election in the weekend News.
