Boys track and field teams were tightly packed after the first day of the District 3A-9 meet in Jacksboro.
Wichita Falls City View and Holliday broke free from the pack, and the Mustangs topped the Eagles 117-111.
Despite a fifth-place finish, Bowie had plenty to be happy about – qualifying for the area meet in all three relays and Zeke Vaughan put together standout performances in the hurdles.
“I was pleased to see us move to area in all three relays,” Bowie head coach Daylon West said. “It gives us two more weeks to work on those, and tweak them.”
The Conference 3A Area meet is set for April 21 at Whitesboro. This meet will feature the best from Districts 3A-9 and 3A-10.
West said Bowie’s been working on exchanges, and the right boys are in the right relays now.
Bowie’s 400-meter relay squad finished fourth as the group of Chandler Allison, Brandon Hutto, Daniel Mosley and Kevin Posey clocked in at 45.83 seconds. Read more in the April 9 Bowie News.
