Montague ISD Closing
Montague Independent School District closed April 20 due to electricity outages caused by recent storms.
When faculty began arriving Wednesday morning, they discovered the school and neighboring homes had only partial electricity.
Montague ISD Superintendent Curtis Eldridge said around mid-morning the district realized they would not have enough electricity for a full day of instruction. Teachers called their students parents to arrange for pickup.
Eldridge reports the electric company, Texas New Mexico Power, came as soon as they called around 6 a.m. and worked hard to return full electricity to the area by Wednesday afternoon.
With electricity fully restored, the students will return to school on Thursday.
