In what can best be described as a fitting move, North Central Texas College has decided to add a rodeo team.
Programs including agriculture, farm and ranch management, equine science and horticulture have experienced growth and success in recent years.
“We are very excited to bring rodeo back to NCTC,” said Dr. Brent Wallace, NCTC president. “This program will not only further opportunities for students, but will assist in continuing to build on the strength of our equine and agriculture programs.”
Performers will participate under the sanctioning body for college rodeo, the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). The NIRA features 11 regions of competition.
Texas has nearly 30 colleges and universities fielding rodeo teams, including Weatherford College in the region.
Texas features two regions, and NCTC will be competing in the Southwest Region – which runs west of Interstate-35 to Hobbs, N.M. Read more in the April 23 Bowie News.
