COLLEGES: NCTC falls in Region V tourney

The NCTC softball team was eliminated from the Region V North Tournament with a 7-1 loss to Weatherford on Saturday at The Ball Fields at Craig Ranch in McKinney.
McLennan won the tournament by blanking Temple 9-0 in the “if needed” game.
As winner, McLennan received an automatic bid to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament set for x in St. George, Utah.
The Highlassies are 42-12 overall, and finished 26-6 in the conference.
Brooke Ford scored NCTC’s lone run during Friday’s 2-1 loss to Cisco. Ford, who also pitched, allowed the game-winning runs in the seventh inning.
The Lady Lions pushed across seven runs in the top of the seventh as NCTC staved off elimination on Saturday morning with a 12-4 conquest over Ranger. Read more in the May 11 Bowie News.
