Colby Davis-Pastusek said the decision to leave Bowie for Wichita Falls Rider High School was “difficult” and she felt a quote in Wednesday’s edition of The Bowie News was taken out of context.
She says the comment, “it is what it is” was not her response to taking the job, but how it was released to the media before she was able to tell people who needed to “hear it from me.” The coach said the statement made it seem like she doesn’t care about a place that she loves with every ounce of her heart, adding “Once a Lady Rabbit, always a Lady Rabbit.”
“I have invested the last seven years of my life into Lady Rabbit Basketball and Bowie (Independent School District),” Davis-Pastusek told The Bowie News.
“I have the utmost respect for this school district, and every Lady Rabbit that has poured their blood, sweat and tours into this program,” she added.
Wichita Falls Independent School District does not have a work session scheduled to discuss Davis-Pastusek’s possible hire until May 10.
