None of the schools in The Bowie News coverage area finished among the top-10 in the University Interscholastic League’s Lone Star Cup.
Standings were reflected by the following events: State and area marching band, tennis, team tennis, cross country, volleyball, football, swimming and diving, wrestling, girls’ and boys’ basketball, soccer, golf and track and field, academics, one act play, softball and baseball.
Agriculture results are not figured into the numbers.
In Conference 3A, which features both Bowie and Nocona, the top school was Brock with 82 points, and Wall was second with 72. Shallowater, which beat Bowie during the football playoffs, was next with 62.
In Conference A, which features Forestburg, Saint Jo, Gold-Burg, Prairie Valley and Bellevue, Happy was the winner with 43 points – three more than Abbott. Nearby Bryson recorded 28 points, which was good enough for a 12th-place tie with Garden City.
Windthorst was the winner in Conference 2A with 60 points, three more than Shiner, and Crawford was third with 54. Archer City was in a tie for 20th with 34 points. Read more, and see complete standings, in the June 29 Bowie News.
