First responders assisted with high water rescues and flooding in a local motel, the assisted living center and multiple streets in Bowie Wednesday night as nearly seven inches of rain fell during the course of just a few hours.
The amount of rain that fell depended on your location. Nocona recorded only one inch of rain Wednesday night, while the Bowie water plant recorded 3.60.
However, in downtown the rain gauges almost topped out anywhere from 6.25 to 6.75 inches in a seven-inch gauge.
An additional 1.50 inches fell Thursday night in Bowie with more rain in Friday’s forecast.
The heavy rains led to Amon G. Carter Lake being closed late Thursday to boating traffic. Selma Park campground also is closed.
