Tips for a fun, safe summer

The end of school, rising temperatures and Memorial Day weekend marked the unofficial start to summer in North Texas. Many celebrate the warmer weather and longer days with trips to the lake, cookouts and vacations.
Enjoying favorite pastimes during the coming months is always fun, but summer activities can turn dangerous and even deadly without proper safety precautions.
The National Safety Council reports July, the height of summer, as the deadliest month of the year. Preventable incidents are 11 percent higher in July than the national average.
