This season will mark the first-time ever all University Interscholastic League football championship games will be at the same site during the same week.
That could become a logistics nightmare at AT&T Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys and other star football games like the Cotton Bowl Classic. Earlier this week, the Dallas Morning News reported the possibility the UIL might move the first game on Thursday to the last game on Wednesday.
As of right now, it’s expected only the Conference 1A Six-Man Division I and II title games will take place on Dec. 14. That means there will be four championship games on Dec. 15, the Division 2A and 3A Division I and II games.
On Dec. 15, the first football game will start at 10 a.m., and the final game won’t wrap up until around midnight.
The UIL said in a statement the potential for a 2A championship game to be played on Wednesday night won’t happen until at least the 2017 season.
