The Bowie High School volleyball program will have a unique opening-night match when the season begins on Aug. 9.
The Lady Rabbits will play Archer City at 7 p.m. on Aug. 9 at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
“We all know how good Archer City is,” said Bowie volleyball coach Jeanie Stark. “They are a very strong team, and it will be a good start for us. It’s good for our kids, and they get to play on a college court, which will add some excitement, too.”
As usual, Bowie’s schedule is challenging with non-district opponents such as Callisburg – who played a postseason tournament match versus Peaster here last season – and Windthorst.
All Windthorst did last year was reach the University Interscholastic League Conference 2A state championship match, before falling to Iola in four games.
Unlike previous years, it’s status quo when it comes to tournaments.
Bowie will participate in the Texas Advantage event, with division play slated for Denton Ryan High School, Aug. 12-13. The Lady Rabbits also will play at Glen Rose from Aug. 18-20 and at Nocona’s tradition-rich “Buckle Up For Lane’s Sake” tournament Sept. 1-3.
