Montague County Commissioners plan to stick with the 2016 effective tax rate.

But Monday they slashed an additional $38,300 reducing part-time employees and plans to share two deputies across four offices to alleviate the staff shortage during busy periods.

The court met in regular session, including a budget workshop at the end of the regular agenda. County Tax Assessor Collector Syd Nowell presented the certification of values and rates for 2016. Certified net values are $1,828,492,297 with rolling railroad stock of $11,075,803 for a total of $1,839,568,100.

The effective tax rate, which is the amount needed to generate the same tax revenue as last year, .5097 cents per $100 in property value. The rollback rate is .5491 cents. The 2015 tax rate is .41540 cents.
