HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Bowie tops another ranked team

The Bowie High School volleyball team defeated another ranked team last week.
But, the Texas Girls Coaches Association remains fit to see the Lady Rabbits are unranked yet again.
This is despite Bowie with a heap of victories over ranked schools ranging from Windthorst in Conference 2A to Decatur in Conference 4A.
Bowie knocked off Conference 3A foe Holliday in four games last week, and the Lady Eagles came into the match in a tie for 25th spot with Elysian Fields and Jarrell.
In 3A, Boyd – which has proven it to be the best team in District 8 so far – is ranked seventh overall.
Jewett Leon is No. 1, with Goliad second, Peaster third, Beckville fourth and White Oak fifth. Other rated teams of note are: Van Alstyne (13th), Ponder (16th, Bowie beat them in five) and Callisburg, the Lady Rabbits are 1-2 against them.
Krum is top-ranked in Conference 4A with Glen Rose, coached by former Nocona pilot Sandy Langford, in second spot. Bushland is third. Read more in the Sept. 24 Bowie News.

Bowie’s Karlyn Dean powers through with a kill during this past Tuesday’s match at Paradise. The Lady Rabbits swept the Lady Panthers in three sets. Despite all the recent success by Bowie, the team is still unranked in Conference 3A. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)
