HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Rated Windthorst falls in Bowie

The Windthorst High School volleyball team came into Tuesday’s match with Bowie ranked ninth in the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Conference 1A-2A poll.
The Lady Rabbits swept the Trojanettes out of the gymnasium, improving to 15-10.
The poll was released on Sept. 6.
Archer City was rated second and Lindsay eighth in the poll. Iola was No. 1 overall. Other teams of note in the top-20 were Kopperl at No. 16 and Dodd City at No. 19.
Jewett Leon continues to lead the Conference 3A poll with Goliad second and Peaster third.
Peaster won the Gold Bracket at the Buckle Up For Lane’s Sake Tournament this past weekend.
Also rated are Boyd at No. 8, Clyde at No. 19 and Holliday is in a tie for 20th with six other schools.
Krum is No. 1 in Conference 4A with Sandy Langford’s Glen Rose second, Argyle seventh and La Vernina ninth. Other teams of note are Denver City (11th), Graham (15th) and Springtown (18th). Read more in the Sept. 10 Bowie News.
