Bowie goes western this weekend as it celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail during 2017 with a weekend of activities April 21-23.
The Bowie Chamber of Commerce has planned a traditional of old western fun centered around a Longhorn cattle drive, chuckwagons and live music.
While Bowie was not officially organized as a town until 1882 missing the height of the cattle drive era one of the trail routes came near the community. A variety of activities have been planned by the chamber and Main Street Bowie during the course of three days. See the full schedule and a map of the drive route in the mid-week News.
