Bowie High School’s Addy Cook will be a member of the 2017 Midwestern State University volleyball team.
Cook and the rest of the Mustangs will have a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Buenos Aires in August.
The trip will be from Aug. 12-23, with the team, coaching staff, trainer and Dr. Lisa Estrada-Hamby as a translator, team mom and chaperone all in one.
This will mark the first-ever foreign trip for MSU volleyball, which will feature five incoming freshmen including Cook and some transfers.
The coaching staff believes exposure to a different culture is great for personal growth, according to an MSU press release.
The Mustangs have already worked several fundraisers in preparation for the trip, including a high school kickoff night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum – which was the brainchild of Bowie head coach Jeanie Stark and others.
There will be additional fundraisers before the trip takes place.
