Delma Lee Boydston Rowan

NOCONA — Delma Lee Boydston Hickman Rowan, 98, a longtime resident of Knox City, TX died on July 10, 2017, in Nocona.
She was a Baptist and her memorial gravesite service will be at 11 a.m. on July 12 at the Knox City Cemetery.
She resided at Cherry Street Village in Nocona, for the past 14 years living near her son Kenneth Hickman and wife Anna. Delma and Harry Hickman married in 1937 in southern Montague County near Newport. They spent most of the 1940s in the San Diego area where Harry worked as a carpenter building airplane hangers at the Naval Air Station and North Island. After the war they moved to Phoenix, for a time and then made their home in Knox City where they raised their family. Rowan was a hairdresser in Knox City for 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Hickman in 1986; two sons, Kenneth Roy Hickman and Larry Mike Hickman, and Ivan Rowan, whom she married later in life. Also, by her parents Samuel Lewis Boydston and Lizetta Virginia Caraway Boydston, and all her siblings which included five brothers and three sisters: Rob, Clyde, Fred, John, Glen, Mae, Irene and Zelma.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Anna, Nocona; two grandsons, Michael J. Hickman and wife Cassie, Jason A. Hickman and wife Lisa and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
