Montague County youth anglers participated in the National Lake Fork High School Open this past Saturday and Sunday.
The two-person team of Jared Stone and Blake Allen finished 12th overall, weighing eight fish for a total heft of 10.21 pounds.
Stone could fish since he hasn’t officially joined the squad at Tarleton State yet. Allen is a soon-to-be senior at Gold-Burg High, but he fishes for Bowie during the season.
Because of the heat and time of year, this was a tough tournament.
Overall, 138 teams competed and 454 fish were weighed. The average weight of a fish was 1.21 pounds, and the total overall weight is 547.92 pounds.
