Nocona Independent School District trustees appointed Randy Murphey to fill the place six seat in a called meeting on Tuesday morning.
Four applicants requested consideration for the position, including: Kyle Keck, Laura Harlson, Metta Jo Burleson and Murphey.
“They were all excellent and would have all done a great job,” said School Board President Guy Hill. “We just felt that Randy was the best fit right now.”
The vacancy came after Donnie Fenoglio resigned in June, leaving his place six seat due to travel requirements for his job.
The board will meet in a regular session at 7 p.m. on July 17 to consider the 2017-2018 handbooks for the students, employees, band and athletics, along with a student code of conduct.
