Bowie, Nocona set to compete in “Buckle Up For Lane” tournament

The Bowie and Nocona High School volleyball teams are ready to take the court on Thursday in the 18th annual “Buckle Up For Lane’s Sake” tournament.

The annual event was created to honor Lane Fenoglio, who was killed in an auto accident on July 11, 1998, the summer before what would have been her sophomore year at Nocona High School.

The tournament is called “Buckle Up For Lane’s Sake” to raise awareness on the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

Twenty-five teams will compete in five pools at all four school gyms and Nocona First Baptist Church.

Teams will be split up into bracket play on Saturday based on their performance in pools from Thursday with a chance to win the gold, silver and bronze championships.
