After two weeks of scrimmages, the high school football teams across Montague County are ready to take the field on Friday night in the first regular games of the season.
The Bowie Jackrabbits open their season on the road at Aubrey, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m.
All the regular season games for the Rabbits will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The schedule for Bowie hasn’t changed much from the previous season, where the Bowie High School football team started with three tough losses.
However, the team eventually won six of its final nine games to claim a Conference 3A Division I bi-district championship. It was the second straight year for the team to make an appearance in the area round.
This season, games will be similar with a reverse in game sites.
Last season, the Jackrabbits lost the season opener by just one touchdown as Aubrey came out on top by 26-20.
This year, the Rabbits have been preparing for
Graford tops Forestburg in four setsthe season opener by scrimmaging schools of similiar size, Bridgeport and Burkburnett.
“We face Aubrey, a 4A school, on the road which is always a test,” said Bowie Head Football Coach Dylan Stark. “It builds character and we will get to see how the team handles adversity.”
