MONTAGUE – Carolyn Carter, 68, passed away Sept. 14, 2017 in Montague, TX.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 17 at The White Family Funeral Home.
A graveside service was at 10 a.m. Sept. 18 at Elmwood Cemetery.
Carolyn was born Nov. 16, 1947 in Bowie to J.C. and Mary (Swaggerty) McDonald. She attended high school in Bowie. Carolyn married Larry Carter on May 28, 1966 in Bowie.
She worked as district manager for Golden Fried Chicken and area manager for Pizza Hut Company. Carolyn volunteered for Child Protective Services in the area and was an avid Texas Rangers fan. She collected arrowheads and fossils. Carolyn loved animals and was a big supporter of Shelter Hearts. She co-founded Christ Can Food Bank in Montague.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Mary McDonald; and brothers, John McDonald and Jerry Dean McDonald.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Larry Carter, Montague; children, Pamela Carter, Montague, David Carter, Wylie, Lynne Garcia and husband Manuel, Sherman; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Carla Robbins and husband Clifton, Judy Haney, Marilyn Cross all of Bowie and Diane Hunter, Wichita Falls; brother, Kenneth McDonald and wife Dena, Bowie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
