BOWIE – Clifton “Cliff” Raymond Bailey, 99, died on Sept. 13, 2017 in Bowie, TX.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 at The White Family Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
He was born May 15, 1918 in Archer County to Woody and Melissa (Dawdy) Bailey. He graduated from Archer City High School in 1936.
Bailey attended the University of Texas and then Hardin Simmons in Abilene. He enlisted in the United States Army in January 1940 and served in England, North Africa and Italy until September 1945.
Bailey retired from General Dynamics in 1981 as a tooling inspector. He was commander of the VFW Post 8789 in Bowie and a member of several other veterans organizations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Woody and Melissa Bailey; wife, Nina Bailey; sisters, Thelma Haston and Wilma Elmore; and brother, Homer Bailey.
He is survived by his son, Byron Bailey, Georgetown; daughter, Sharon Bailey, Euless; step-son, James Neely, Belton; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and four nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
