Montague County Sheriff’s Office gets K-9 unit

The Montague County Sheriff’s Office will have a four-legged officer with a nose for finding evidence joining the force by the end of the year.

Montague County Commissioners approved the establishment of a K-9 unit during a Sept. 11 meeting.

Sheriff Marshall Thomas explained to commissioners the unit will allow officers probable cause to search vehicles when the K-9 alerts them to a smell of hidden evidence and will help keep officers safer.
