The Nocona Independent School District Board of Trustees has narrowed a pool of 49 superintendent applicants to three called back for a second interview.
The board plans to name a finalist next week said Superintendent Dr. Vicki Gearheart, who retires after 12 years as NISD superintendent and 36 years in education.
NISD had 49 applicants, which the Region 9 Education Service Center reported was the largest pool of applicants for a superintendent position. Half of those had experience as a superintendent said Gearheart as the board narrowed that pool down to 10. The board hopes to announce a lone finalist next week.
