BOWIE – Robert E. “Bob” Rush, 70, passed away on Sept. 4, 2017 in Decatur, TX from complications arising from the stroke he suffered in August of 2016.At Bob’s request, there will be no services.Bob was born to George S. and Thelma (Stainer) Rush in Long Beach, CA on Feb. 27, 1947.Bob and Versel Diane Wall married in Wichita Falls on March 2, 1991 and moved to Bowie in 1995, where he lived until his death.Known as someone who could fix anything mechanical, Bob had many stories about the jobs in his life including working in TV/radio repairs when he was 16 and in a traveling dolphin show. He eventually retired from Bowie Industries. He was also a stay-at-home father for his daughter, Sydney, as she was growing up.Bob was an ASE certified mechanic, a licensed ham radio operator and an expert jerky maker.  Late in life, he became an avid fan of Wahoo! and Uno. Bob was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father, Verne Bruegman and sister, Margaret Woeller.Bob is survived by his wife, Versel Rush; daughter, Sydney Renee Rush, Groves; son, Morgan Rush, Los Angeles; daughter, Danielle Hackbush and grandson Andrew Hackbush, River Oaks; sister, Carol Skelton and family of Wichita Falls; brother, Russell Bruegman and family of Wichita Falls; several nieces, nephews, cousins; sister-in-law and husband, Denise and Darrell Bell, Bowie and a host of friends.If you are so inclined, the family requests that memorials be made in Bob’s memory to Backdoor Theatre of Wichita Falls or to the Salvation Army earmarked for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort.
