Water rescue refresher – Bowie firefighters hit the lake for training

City of Bowie firefighters took part in water rescue training this week converging on Selma Park to practice the basics of “Reach, Throw, Row/Go.”
Twenty-three career and volunteer firefighters went into the water at Amon G. Carter Lake for a refresher course on water rescue basics. Fire Chief Doug Page said the department tries to do this program at least once a year, usually in the summer, but they ran a bit behind.

Page said this also is an opportunity for family members to take part in the evening that includes a cook-out and family members portraying victims.
