The Bowie High School volleyball team was points away from upsetting one of the first place team in the District 8-3A slate, taking the Lady Bearcats to five sets before falling 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20 and 11-15.
Mackenzie Gresham was on fire, registering 19 kills against the 16th ranked team by the Texas Girls Coaching Association, while Kamryn Cantwell put down another nine.
Maddie Baker and Alyssa Vieth led the back-row defense, providing six digs each, while Landra Parr provided 39 assists across five sets.
Lauren Gill helped put easy points on the scoreboard with three ace serves, helped along with two each from Cantwell and Parr.
“The girls played really well and we were able to transition quickly which allowed our offense to execute more,” explained Bowie Head Volleyball Coach Breanna Jones. “It was a high energy game and we played as a team, I am so proud of the girls.”
