Flaunt your Jackrabbit spirit this Friday as the Bowie Boosters and Bowie High School take part in a spirit day contest with Boyd.
Jill Jones of the Booster Club said the Jackrabbits are taking part in a spirit day contest through The Ranch radio station. It begins with a pep rally at the school that will include a staff member kissing a pig and many more fun activities.
The Bowie Boosters will serve up a fish fry starting at 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Cost is $10 per plate and to-go plates will be available.
The proceeds will benefit the Jackrabbit athletes.
Students will be dressing up their tractors and vehicles driving them to school. Folks are invited to dress “redneck” and decorate their vehicles “redneck.” A special guest also may bring in the game ball.
School winners of this spirit contest will win a free concert by Flatland Cavalry, 500 tickets to a NASCAR race and one student will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Jones said the scholarship would be a great help to a local student and the boosters want to help make it happen.
All Jackrabbits are encouraged to wear their maroon and white, attend the pep rally at noon on Friday and the pre-game at 7 p.m., after enjoying the fish fry. Kick-off at 7:30 p.m.
Pink-out shirts for Breast Cancer Awareness also can be ordered by calling Jones at 366-1339.
