After almost two years of working with federal, state and local agencies, the Nocona Independent School District has been awarded $566,280 to bring fiber optic cable to Nocona.
Retiring Superintendent Dr. Vickie Gearheart said Technology Director Malissa Swofford received the notification on Dec. 1. The project will be paid for by federal and state contributions.
Fiber line will be laid from Nortex Communications in Muenster directly to Nocona High School. It must be completed by June 30, 2018.
