on

Due to the rescheduling of the Bowie High Sports Banquet to May 21, the Bowie Independent School District Board of Trustees have rearranged their third month meeting schedule with two meetings set for Monday.
The board will meet at 7 a.m. for a lengthy agenda, followed by a noon meeting with two items related to the issuance of maintenance tax notes.
The noon session would address financing for near $2.8 million in maintenance notes to fund the energy efficiency project that spans the district and will upgrade everything from basic lighting to aged heating and cooling units. Conservation management plans are included.
In April the board approved a project with Entegral Solutions. Replacement of the HVAC is the largest component of the project. The district has more than 250 units. At the junior high 32 HVAC systems will be replaced with upsizing, relocation and air distribution upgrades where necessary.
At the elementary 52 HVAC systems will be replaced and at the intermediate 11 systems will be replaced plus the boiler will be decommissioned.
A resolution authorizing the issuance, sale and delivery of maintenance notes and a resolution expressing the intent to finance expenditures incurred with the energy project are the only topics on the noon agenda.
Recognition of the senior class top 10 percent and the state athletes opens the 7 a.m. meeting. The board will recognize the seniors, state power lifting qualifiers, state track meet qualifiers and the boy’s basketball state champions.
Superintendent Steven Monkres will present the school safety audit report summary, discuss the BISD/North Central Texas Collegiate Academy, future college and career readiness assessments and high school counseling roles and responsibilities.
Curriculum Director Christie Walker will discuss the preliminary fifth and eighth grade state test results and the future of pre-advanced placement course offerings.
Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Pastusek will conduct a preliminary budget workshop.
An executive session is scheduled for personnel and safety plans.
