BELLEVUE – Charles Junior Neels, 90, died on June 10, 2018 in Bowie, TX.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on June 12 at The White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on June 13 at Hopewell Cemetery with Pastor Joe Caballero officiating.
Neels was born on Jan. 8, 1928 in Staunton, IL to Charles and Dora (Cagle) Neels. He served in the United States Coast Guard in the Far East-South Pacific during World War II. He then joined the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW #2153 in Moline, IL, a 70-year member of the American Legend #347 in Le Claire, IA, a 60-year member of the Hamilton Lodge #664 in Bettendof, IA, a 60-year Scottish Rite in Davenport, IA, a 60-year Shiner in Kaaba, Davenport, IA and a member of the Bowie Masonic Lodge #578.
On Sept. 1, 1950 he married Rosa Jane Turner in Moline, IL. Neels worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company of America for 32 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Lindsay, and brothers, Henry and Kenneth Neels.
He is survived by his wife Rosa Neels, Bellevue; daughter, Sarah Phares, Rock Hill, SC; sons, Mike Neels, Le Claire, IA and Jim Neels, Lone Tree, IA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and brother, Donald Neels, Great Falls, MT.
