The Bowie Lady Rabbits earned a straight set win by 25-11, 25-8 and 25-21 in front of their home crowd on Friday night.
“The first two sets we really did well with playing our tempo,” said Bowie Lady Rabbits Coach Breanna Jones. “We executed the ball well. The third set, we let our compete level drop some and had to work hard to stay head.”
Landra Parr and Abby Zamzow powered the Lady Rabbit offense with eight kills each, while leading the team in assists. Parr put up 16 assists for her team, with Zamzow adding an additional eight.
Mackenzie Gresham put down six kills, Lexi Kirkham, five, while Sayde Garrett and Lydia Jones provided three each.
Halle Duvall added 13 digs for the Lady Rabbits. Taygon Jones added seven digs to go along with her three ace serves. Zamzow added another five digs and Parr, four.
Despite having to change their rotation several times in the preseason due to injury, Jones feels her team has handled the changes well.
“I feel they have faced this adversity well and are doing everything asked of them,” said the head coach. “We will still have players out when district starts, but we are working every day to make connections with the players off and on the court.”
The Lady Rabbits faced Wichita Falls on Tuesday night and will be on the road at Aubrey on Friday, leaving just one game against Bridgeport before the opening of district on Sept. 22.
