With less than a week before early voting begins for the mid-term national, state and local elections, Montague County Elections Administrator Ginger Wall said she’s ready for voting to begin as the machines have been fully tested, mail-in ballots are being requested and a large number of new voters have registered indicating strong interest in the mid-term and local elections.
Wall has been working as the top election official since May 10, 2017 and this will be her third election to coordinate. The testing of the 58 electronic voting machines took place on Oct. 2.
All counties are required to conduct public testing of their direct recording electronic voting systems to ascertain it will accurately count the votes cast for all offices.
Each one of the DRE units was set up in the county annex community room and underwent a series of tests. Wall said it went well as all the ballots were proofed and the machines are ready to go.

Early voting begins Oct. 22 and runs through Nov. 2.
