BISD Board engages TASB to conduct supt. search

Trustees of the Bowie Independent School District met for a 7 a.m. called session Monday and voted to engage the Texas Association of Schools Boards to conduct the superintendent’s search.
Board President Jacky Betts said the motion came after a 75-minute executive session. The district will enter into a contract with TASB afterwhich a timeline will be set. Betts said they were told it usually takes four to six months to complete the process.
It has been almost 10 years since the district had to fill the superintendent’s job. Monkres was assistant superintendent when he was named to fill the vacancy following Greg Evans’ resignation nine years ago. Evans came to BISD as superintendent in January 2008.
