Saint Jo Independent School District has entered the top 25 in the 2019 Lone Star Cup standings.
Superintendent Curtis Eldridge said this includes the 210-plus 1A schools in Texas.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized in the top 25,” said Eldridge.
The University Interscholastic League Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications (1A-6A) based on their team performance in district and state championships. The winning schools in each classification will receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.
Honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, the UIL Lone Star Cup is open to all UIL participant high schools. Standings include points earned in a variety of areas including athletic and academics.
Saint Jo ISD has earned 20 points, while 1A is led by Nazareth with 42 points.
There are 33 schools listed in the top 25 as they are grouped by their points.
