Bowie, Nocona cross country teams compete at Burkburnett

The Bowie and Nocona cross country teams faced off again this week as both programs ran at the Burkburnett Jamboree on Thursday morning.
Running against some good competition and field with eight teams in the girls varsity race and nine in the boys, results were all over the place.
The Lady Rabbit’s varsity team finished fourth overall as a team. Landra Parr finished first for Bowie in 14th place with a time of 14:39.
Julia Witt was next finishing in 20th place, Jojo Villarreal in 25th place, Jennifer Alvarado in 28th place and Brysen Richey in 31st place to round out the Lady Rabbits scoring.
The Bowie varsity boy’s team finished eighth overall as a team running in the 5A and 6A race. Sid Mayfield finished first for the Jackrabbits in 28th place with a time of 19:32.
Alex Shelton was right behind him in 29th place, Brodie Armstrong finished 35th, Trevor Vann finished 43rd and Ignacio Saucedo finished 48th to round out the top five runners.

The Lady Indians varsity had the best day of all of the teams, finishing second behind Andrews. Kylie Rose finished third overall with a time of 13:49 to pace the Nocona team up front.
Raylee Sparkman joined Rose in the top 10 with a seventh place finish. Madilyn Ferguson finished 16th place, Claudia Espinoza finished 22nd and Natalie Pirkey finishing 50th were among the Lady Indians top five runners.
The Nocona boy’s varsity team finished ninth overall. Despite the last place finish team, the Indians were running in the 5A and 6A division against mostly bigger schools in an effort to improve times. Eli Croxton finished first for the Indians in 25th place with a time of 19:23.
Hank Ulbig was next in 30th place, Lyndon Fenoglio in 38th place, Adam Meekins in 52nd place and Iziak Weatherread right behind him 53rd place to count for the team’s scoring.
