Bowie community serves up Thanksgiving meals

The volunteers were busy in the kitchen at First United Methodist Church in Bowie Thursday as they served up the free community Thanksgiving meal. Organizers said 224 meals were served and donations of more than $1,700 were received to help with the meal. The Bowie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8789 provided all the turkeys and hams. Along with the in-house meal service at 11 a.m., there were about 100 meals delivered.
