NISD handles routine agenda

Nocona Independent School District Trustees opened the new year Tuesday night by recognizing a large group of students for their accomplishments and handing a routine agenda of business.
Dr. David Waters, superintendent, said the night opened with the board introducing members of the girls’ volleyball team who had received all state recognition and academic all-state honors. Youth who competed in the county youth fair also were honored.
The board called a May 2 election to fill the seats presently held by J.D. Patterson and Jay Womack.
In administrative updates, the board learned the bus barn building site has been cleared and level, and construction has begun on the new building.
Trustees went into executive session for consider personnel and security devices, but there was no action taken back in open session. Waters said next month the board will consider administrator contracts.
