The Bowie Jackrabbits started the second round of district at City View on Tuesday and ran into a shooting performance they could not keep up with.
The Jackrabbits lost 68-51 thanks in large part to the Mustangs Jordan Lucas, who made 10 3-pointers and scored 30 points in the game.
The game got off to a fast start as City View’s high energy press got to Bowie early and allowed the Mustangs to get a bit of a lead, up 21-14.
The Jackrabbits settled down not producing as many turnovers, but Lucas was firing early and often in the first half. Bowie was more worried trying to shut down Mustang athletes driving into the lane like Jayln Marks.
The Jackrabbits kept falling further behind, down 40-25 at halftime.
Even with Bowie doing its best not to allow Lucas wide open looks in the second half, the shots kept going in even with contested hands in his face.
The shots kept falling which did not allow the Jackrabbits to cut into the double-digit halftime lead any. City View led 57-34 heading into the final quarter.
By that time Bowie did its best to cut into the lead with intensity a little bit lax from the Mustangs, but it was not enough to come back from 23 points down. City View would win 68-51.
The Jackrabbits next play at 7:30 p.m. at Nocona on Feb. 11.
