NOCONA – Delores Reiter, 79, died on Feb. 3, 2020.
A celebration of life will at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15 at The Branch Church in Farmer’s Branch, 3035 Valley View Lane, Farmer’s Branch.
She was born Dec. 5, 1940 to Hilda and August (Gus) Reiter. She was the fifth youngest of 10 children. She married Melton Edwin Vrla on June 6, 1958. Together they had four children.
Reiter served as a scout leader and a den mother for all four kids. She became a certified gymnastics judge in 1974 and was involved in the establishment of the North Texas Women’s Gymnastics Judging Association. In 1997, she was recognized with the first ever NTWGJA Lifetime Achievement Award and by the Gymnastics Association of Texas with the Service to Youth award.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Reiter; and brothers, Jerome (Jackie) Reiter, Leonard Reiter and William (Billy) Reiter.
She is survived by her children, Sonja, Melton Jr. (Butch), Corey and Nikki; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Bernice Sicking; brothers, David Reiter, Donald (Don), Allen Reiter and Roy Reiter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, she asked for donations to the Trump 2020 campaign to make America great again.
